BOB NEHER

Director of Alliance of Chief Executives

Bob is a Director of Alliance of Chief Executives. Founded in 1996, the Alliance has become the premier organization for chief executives in Northern California. Their members run companies in virtually every industry and market sector ranging from emerging companies to multi-billion dollar global public enterprises. The Alliance creates very private, high-level, confidential environments for members to have strategic business conversations that typically wouldn't, or simply couldn't, take place anywhere else.Technologies and markets are rapidly converging on a global basis and face-to-face meetings with other chief executives have become increasingly difficult, but even more critically important. Bringing top executives with diverse talents and expertise together results in the discovery of innovative new strategies and opportunities.

Earlier in his career, Bob was the founding partner, president, and CEO of St. Ives Laboratories. Bob led company growth from initial start-up to more than $100 million in annual sales in just seven years, resulting in a successful IPO in 1987. The St. Ives Swiss Formula brand generated a four percent share of the then $1.2 billion hair care market, and a seven percent share of the $700 million skin care market. Under his leadership at St. Ives, he also successfully licensed international distributors in Europe, Asia, and Australia. (St. Ives was subsequently acquired by Alberto-Culver in 1990.)

Then later as a principal and CEO of Botalia Pharmaceuticals, Bob pioneered a brand of medicinal herbal products marketed to US drug stores, based on standardized extracts exclusively imported from Europe. Within the organization he also wrote the first accredited curriculum training for over 2,500 licensed US pharmacists on the safe and efficacious use of standardized herbal extracts. He successfully completed the company's exit strategy, becoming acquired by a large public company in 1995. As president and CEO of Add-Vision Technologies, Bob conducted and implemented a strategic repositioning of the company and its products for future growth and competitiveness. By achieving defined targets and operational efficiencies in all departments, including manufacturing, finance, MIS, sales, and marketing, Neher successfully completed a key strategic merger for that company in 1998. Bob received a BS in Business from the University of California, Berkeley.
